Our photos have a ‘make-over’!

We recently made the very sensible decision to update some of our old and outdated product images. When looking through the front end of our website, we realised that many of the images did not really show the product very well nor did they show the specific products in all their glory!

To be honest, it had been on our minds for a considerable amount of time, but it has always taken a back seat as we are always so busy with either maintaining the woodlands, creating orders or doing the general admin tasks.

So, we made the decision to pick a few of our more standard items that we sell regularly and update their images to ones we felt would reflect the product better – with gallery images to show how the product could be used by our customers.

Being a small business in West Wales ourselves, we always strive to support other local businesses too. So when local photographer and film maker Jacob Martin, who is just starting up a business came onto our radar, we jumped at the opportunity to involve him in our plans!

Having invited Jacob around in advance of the photoshoot to see our products and discuss how we wanted the images to look and feel, we set a date and pulled together props such as cakes, cupcakes and floral displays. To be honest, we love working with other local businesses – we live in such a rural area of Wales that supporting and networking with each other helps us to offer a truly bespoke service, whilst getting the best out of those we work with.

We did the photoshoot on a cool sunny evening and chose the location to be on the edge of one of our fields near a pond – a perfect green backdrop for our wood products! We actually surprised ourselves and were quite organised with a photo order list and managed to get through the products at quite a rapid rate. We have to say we are delighted with the results!

We have taken care to ensure that the products are shown on their ‘own’ so customers can see what the product is like – we have also taken images that accompany the product, showing how it can be used by customers with either cakes on, flowers, table numbers etc. It’s amazing how many uses we could find for a simple wood slice! We find that customers love them for smaller cake displays, cheeseboards, floral displays, centrepieces, cupcake stands and many more ways too!

The images taken have now replaced most of the outdated images that used to adorn the website and we have also updated our Etsy Shop with new images too. We share much of our work including the bespoke personalised items on both Pinterest and Instagram as well as on our own Facebook page. We thought we’d share some of the images with you here on our blog too – what better way to make wood come ‘alive’ than adding a cake and some flowers!

Flowers on wood – a naturally perfect marriage!

When planning a wedding, there are so many things to consider from the venue and catering right down to what shoes to wear!
Flowers play such an important role at a wedding and, quite rightly, should take centre stage with their striking beauty and gentle fragrance.
We have been extremely lucky to have our wood products used as part of floral displays at many weddings over the years. It always amazes us at how many different ways flowers can be displayed and with such amazing themes, awash with colours, that undoubtedly catch the eye.
We felt that it was only right to share some recent images of floral displays from weddings in 2016. It is always such a delight for us here at M H Woodland to see our wood products in use whether it be for centrepieces, table settings or for cakes. Seeing our products in their final setting of a wedding brings them alive and we feel honoured that our wood, from our own woodland here in Wales can be part of so many stunning displays!
I am sure you will agree it’s a perfect natural marriage to use wood with floral displays. Nature at its very best. With colours that literally ‘pop’ as seen with these bright oranges, pinks and purples of the Pumpkin floral display. Wood works well with any colour – the beautiful tones of white and green perfectly compliment each other and look very much at home on a wood slice.
We enjoy working with other businesses in the wedding industry and have worked with some amazingly talented florists in the past, helping them to create stunning displays for weddings, birthdays and competitions!
The photos shown in this post were kindly provided by the super talented Alison White of Alison White Wedding Flowers based in Leaden Roding, Essex. Alison offers a friendly personal service for all wedding and event flowers. We are truly grateful to her for enabling us to share these images – we think you’ll agree they are simply stunning and are a great example of how you can use wood in a floral display!
